Hello, I'm Michelle Stein

I used to think major gift success was about luck, clutching presentation decks in donor meetings like security blankets. Then a moment in Madagascar changed everything. Watching a donor experience the impact of her giving firsthand, she told me: 'Thank you for giving me one of the best days of my life.'

That's when I understood - we're not just fundraisers, we're creators of transformational moments. Having led philanthropy teams at The British Museum and WaterAid, I've turned this insight into practical strategies that work. Now I help fundraisers move from hoping for lucky breaks to confidently building major gift programmes that get results.

From developing major gift strategies for the Commonwealth Secretariat to training teams at WWF South Africa and The Roddenberry Foundation, I've guided over 2,500 fundraisers to transform how they view their role in philanthropy. Because major gifts need major visions - and that starts with seeing yourself differently.

I work with organisations around the world from my base in Cape Town, where you'll find me chasing endorphins in the city's tidal pools, evangelising about barefoot shoes on Instagram, or deep into my latest podcast obsessions (current favourites: Conspirituality, Maintenance Phase, The Liz Mood Podcast and Watch What Crappens).

Ready to make your own shift from lucky break to major gift success?
